Midway Arcade Treasures

Ahhh…Takes me back to my younger years so well, I’ve got acne again and my pockets are stretched and distended with quarters. Hey now I’m getting picked on… stop it! Green Elf needs food badly! Yellow Wizard shot the food! Ahhh! Where the hell is my 20-sided dice? Now I’ve missed the bus again. Rating: 4 / 5
What’s that saying – somebody’s treasure is somebody else’s trash? (And vice-versa.) I can see how some people would treasure this; they have probably played it 3 decades ago (or however long) and they have good memories of it – now they have fun all over again. God knows that I still like certain bad games and even worse movies that I used to love as a kid… Even though I now realize how utterly lame they are, it doesn’t stop my enjoyment one bit. Having that said, I haven’t played these games back in the day; I have never seen them before. I loved Atari’s old arcade games (River Raid, Submarine, Space Riders, Frostbite, Pac-Man, a hundred others) and I assumed these would be similar. But these are way simpler, more unsophisticated, probably a lot older than my Atari faves, which look very modern and high-tech in comparison. If you must know, it didn’t take long for this game to wind up in my trash bin. I tossed it with no guilt.
My advice is this: buy this only if you are familiar with these titles, and you happily know what you’re getting into. If you’re merely exploring arcade titles, go elsewhere.

PROS: Only way to play these games without X-Box Live
$20 for 20 games
CONS: Need a Joystick to Play a lot of games better. Rating: 4 / 5
The video arcade has been dying a slow death for the past decade, fewer and fewer of these classic games are available to play in the original form. Midway Arcade Treasures features no fewer than 24 games that are practically unavailable in their native format. If you have any interest in classic gaming, this collection is worth a look, provided you can get used to its quirks.
Overall, Midway Arcade Treasures has all the ingredients to make a great addition to any gamer’s library, but you can’t help but feel that a much better job could have been done if more time had been spent making sure that everything worked correctly. It would have yielded a much more recommendable game. If you’re a fan of the classic gaming experience who wouldn’t mind the sorts of minor issues that are rampant throughout this collection, you’ll be able to get your fill with Midway Arcade Treasures. Rating: 3 / 5
Anyone who spent time in the arcades back in the 80’s will love this game.Younger gamers may find the graphics boring. There are
so many classic games on this disc and for only twenty dollars you cant pass it up.Its worth the price for Gauntlet and Spy Hunter alone.I would reccomend this title to anyone who wants
hours of fun. Rating: 5 / 5
